Oromia State University (OSU) has announced that it is finalizing preparations for its 30th-anniversary celebration. The update was shared by President Dr. Geremew Huluka during a press briefing.
Established in 1996 as the Institute of Leadership, the institution later became the Institute of Management and, in 2002, the Oromia Public Service College, introducing degree programs for public servants. After years of curriculum reform and expansion, it achieved full university status in 2017 as Oromia State University.
Dr. Geremew noted OSU’s progress in education and training, research and consultancy, institutional reform, and community engagement. Initially serving the Oromia region, the university now collaborates with neighboring regions, including Gambella, Benishangul-Gumuz, Somali, Afar, and Sidama, while also strengthening international partnerships.
With over 540 staff, OSU continues to meet its strategic goals. In partnership with the Oromia Regional Government, it has integrated six campuses of the former Teachers College and now provides specialized training for the teaching profession.
The 30th-anniversary celebration will take place from December 3–6, 2025, honoring the contributions of faculty, staff, students, government partners, and private-sector collaborators.
