Continuing professional development is critical in ensuring that professionals remain competent and effective in their roles.
Health professionals must maintain, update and enhance their knowledge, skills, and attitude to adequately deliver quality health care. This is particularly important due to a changing disease pattern in which diseases that had been eradicated are now reemerging, as well as an increase of non-communicable diseases. There is a need for CPD to maintain professional competence in an environment of numerous challenges, rapid organizational changes, information technology, increasing public expectations and demand for quality and greater accountability.
With the growing demand for accredited CPD programs, Oromia state University aims to fill this gap by providing a structured, rigorous accreditation process that upholds national and international best practices.
Oromia State University (OSU) is the only state university in Ethiopia. It is the first Regional State, Higher Educational Institution in the country, with the mission of providing holistic public sector capacity building services through training, education, Community service and research based consultancy services. The university has five major divisions pertinent to the service it is rendering.
These are:-academic affairs division, research and consultancy affairs, leadership development affairs, administrations affairs and partnership, community services and revenue generation. OSU is connecting itself to both National and Global institutions and conversant on working in collaboration with others to increase all sectors workforces, efficiency and leadership effectiveness.
Ministry of health of Ethiopia and Oromia Regional Health Bureau is one of the institutions that OSU planned to work with to capacitate health sectors, to improve the Quality of health Service delivery through training health leaders and to provide continuous professional development training for health professionals found in the country.
Mission: To give quality and standardized training for health care providers and health managers to improve health care and make them healthy and productives in their life.

To develop and implement a sustainable, effective CPD system for health professionals in Ethiopia to improve health service quality and system resilience.
Objectives
To build capacity of trainers and health workers in participating and delivering CPD activities, to establish digital infrastructure for accessible and flexible learning, to monitor, evaluate, and adapt the CPD system for continuous improvement.
