School of Law is one of the school under the College of Law and Governance. The former Department of Law was scaled up in to school in 2018.
In playing its part for the overall achievement of the university’s mission, vision and goals, the School of Law carries out various activities. In doing this, the school has been offering education in undergraduate program in different modes of study (regular, continuing and distance education), and certified thousands of public servants of the region. More importantly, the school launched a postgraduate program in LLM in 2018 and students are enrolled in different centers of the university.
In collaboration with Vijie University of Amsterdam, the school also enrolls over 170 students selected from various Oromia courts and justice bureaus in different fields of specializations: - Constitutional Law, Alternative Dispute Resolution Methods, Human Rights, Commercial Law, Investment Law, Criminal Law, Legislative Drafting and Tax Law.
In addition to education, the school undertakes various short term trainings in relevant areas for students, workers and officers of different bureaus of the region.
On the other hand, the school delivers community service via opening free legal aid center at Batu town’s court. The school provides counseling as well as advocacy service for poor and vulnerable groups of the society.
