Background Information

 Oromia State University is a regional managed Higher Learning Institution situated at about 163 km of South of Addis Ababa, on the shore of lake Ziway. The university first came into being in 1992 as a training center with the name “Oromia Management Institute”. In 1997, it was scaled up to a college level and named “Public Service College of Oromia (PSCO)” operated in such standard till 2009. Later in 2009, the former Public Service College of Oromia transformed to Oromia State University, being the first of its kind and the only state level higher learning institution, following regulation No 190/2009 of the Oromia Regional State administrative Council.

OSU is committed to equip the civil servants and other sector of the society with the required knowledge and skills through quality education and training, thereby sustaining reform initiatives, capacity building, and enhances leadership capacity in the region through training, education, and research and consultancy services. Further it has an objective and responsibility to soliciting, realizing and leading a reform within the region and beyond.
